Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy will benefit from an investment of approximately 1,150,000 euros for the development of research infrastructure, as a result of the competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), in partnership with the National Agency for Research and Development. The two projects won by the university are part of the Biomedicine and Biopharmaceuticals field.
The first project "SPECTRA-DRUG: Integrated anti-drug platform for personalized medicine", with a funding of 900,000 euros, aims to create the first integrated platform dedicated to the identification and monitoring of psychoactive substances and the implementation of personalized medicine in addiction management in the Republic of Moldova, by equipping it with state-of-the-art analytical technologies and developing a modern research infrastructure. "The project provides for the acquisition and operationalization of high-performance equipment, the development of integrated analysis platforms and flows, the creation of access mechanisms to the infrastructure for researchers and medical institutions, as well as the strengthening of institutional capacities and national expertise in the field of analytical toxicology, personalized medicine and biomedical research", stated project coordinator Jana Chihai, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The second project, entitled "Modernization and strengthening of the research infrastructure in nanomedicine and advanced biopharmaceuticals" (Nano_FORCE), worth 250,000 euros, aims to modernize and strengthen the research infrastructure in nanomedicine and biopharmaceuticals, by developing an integrated platform within the Drug Development Center. "The project will be implemented in the period 2026-2029 and provides for the acquisition and integration of specialized scientific equipment, the development of methodologies and workflows, the creation of access mechanisms to infrastructure and the strengthening of skills in pharmaceutical nanotechnologies and biopharmaceuticals, in order to support interdisciplinary research and the development of innovative solutions in the health field," specified project coordinator Livia Uncu, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Nicolae Testemitanu University.
Implementing these projects, the University will strengthen the research infrastructure in the biomedical field by developing modern and high-performance platforms, which will support excellence in research, interdisciplinary collaboration and the transfer of scientific results to medical and pharmaceutical practice.
The funding is provided through the "Moldova Higher Education" Project, implemented by the MEC with the support of the World Bank, and is intended for the development of laboratories and research platforms in areas considered a priority for the country's development.
